Sony Ericsson v2.0 Android in the works

Here's about v2.0 Android

It's hardly going to surprise too many people but when Sony Ericsson officially confirm that their handsets, running on the v2.0 of the Android OS are in the works it is enough to make it in the news.

On a Sony Ericsson event in Taiwan, the company's vice president of marketing, Peter Ang has stated that the company is now investing more in the development of an Android smartphone than in the other mobile operational systems that the company uses (Symbian and Android that is).

The good news is that the Sony Ericsson Android handset will come spiced with the company's proprietary UI which we really dig. It does look pretty nicely over Symbian on the Idou, so we are now eager to see how it combines with the Android OS.

While a release date would have been sweet to know, Peter Ang has refrained from commenting on that. Considering that Android v2.0 codenamed Donut is the Android OS of choice for Sony Ericsson (along with Acer and Motorola) we can't really see any devices coming out before the last quarter of the year.

RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000

Here's about RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000.

Introduction
Having a phone with multiple Internet, email, message and entertainment features is good. Being able to use them simultaneously is better. When connected to a 3G/HSDPA Internet connection, the RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000 can send and receive email and text or multimedia messages while receiving a phone call and browsing the Internet. Even better, the Bold can do all of this quickly without backpedaling -- if a user shifts to another task, the application they were working in will pause where the person left it until they're ready to return to the original application. The Bold boasts great connectivity and plenty of opportunities to upload great-sounding music and watch vivid videos on the Bold's large horizontal screen. But the Bold's bulky size, so-so camera quality, lack of extra storage space and bland themes could detract some buyers.

Design

Unless you've got quite a paw, the Bold isn't exactly palm-sized. It measures 4.48 inches tall, 2.6 inches wide and 0.59 inches thick and weighs 4.8 ounces. Sliding the phone into a pocket may not be an option, but conveniently the Bold package comes with a black leather holster that blends in with a pair of black pants. It's also slim so it fits in a purse or messenger bag pocket easily.
The silver-lined black face of the Bold features a full raised QWERTY keyboard with buttons that seem small but are large enough to prevent most typing mistakes. The keyboard contains alt, delete, enter shift, speakerphone and symbol keys. Numbers are located to the left on top of letter keys. The QWERTY design expedites the text messaging process, but it makes calling 1-800 numbers that spell the last seven digits of their phone numbers in words a brain twister to figure out.

Above the keyboard is a bar with, from left to right, a send key, a menu key, a trackball that's rolled to move around the screen, an escape key and an end/power key. On the top half of the phone's face is a large, reflective screen, the BlackBerry logo, an earpiece speaker and a light that shines red when the phone is charging. The soft, black back of the phone contains the phone's camera lens.

Located on the left side of the phone are a headset jack, a USB port, and a media card slot. The right side has volume keys and the top of the phone has a mute/standby key. Each side of the phone contains convenience keys.

The phone's design makes messaging and navigating a snap, although it may be too large for some people's tastes and the specialized features may be more than a novice needs.

Out of the box, the RIM BlackBerry Bold comes with a handsfree 3.5mm stereo headset, a travel charger, a USB cable, a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, a quick start guide, a getting started guide and a BlackBerry user tools CD with BlackBerry desktop software with media manager.

Hot environment could explode your mobile phone

You must be carefull! Don't letf your mobile phone in a car!

An incident of a mobile phone explosion inside a vehicle cabin was reported in Saudi Arabia not long time ago.

BACKGROUND

A cell phone with its power on was left inside the car compartment while the vehicle was parked in an open area. It was close to midday. Reportedly after an hour in the park, the mobile phone exploded.

CAUSED OF INCIDENT

Obviously the mobile phone’s battery is the only component as the legitimate source of stored energy. The solar heat obviously pressurized the car’s closed cabin. What triggers the explosion could be the overheated battery caused by extremely high temperature magnified by the
windshield (glass) and the sealed (unventilated) vehicle cabin.

Can you see the impact of the explosion to the front wind shield ?

Protection tips for Apple iPod

These are tips for protect your Apple iPod.

Almost everyone and anyone that I know seems to have bought an iPod or at least is thinking of getting an ipod for themselves or their loved ones. The iPod is just so alluring! However, do you know what you should do after buying the iPod?

Most people don't. Yet, market analysts estimate that the average iPod owner spend as much as 30% of the original iPod price on additional accessories! That's a whopping US$60-US$90 on iPod accessories that each iPod owner will spend!

Many people are simply spending their money on the wrong accessories! In fact, many are going for fancy accessories such as car transceiver kit, wireless remote kit, speaker kit even without realizing what are the first accessories they should get.

Get the Basic iPod Accessory before getting the Fancy Stuff!

Do you, as a iPod user, faces these problems on a daily basis too?

* iPod Screen scratches

* Click wheel scratches

* Mirrored back scratches

* Messy iPod earphone cables

* iPod overheating when being charged while in a silicone or leather case

Despite the technical and cosmetic superiority of the Apple iPod, there remain some teething issues. Weak batteries is one. Being easily scratched is another. These problems immediately lower the resale or trade-in value of the iPod, if any? This may not seem important but if you are trading in your older iPod for a new one, this does matter. It also sucks to see scratches and marks on the beautiful iPod. In fact, microscopic scratches takes place everytime you take the iPod in and out of pocket!

Get a good-quality iPod case before ANYTHING ELSE!

There are numerous iPod accessories out there. Many accessories are fanciful, some are good but most do not fulfil the basic need of the iPod. You need to protect the iPod from getting scratches and accidental marks before anything else.

Before the iPod can serve you well, it must be able to take care of itself. So, before you even look further into getting your first iPod accessory or even if you have gotten numerous other accessories, make sure you first equip your iPod with either a good quality case or sleeve.

The most common iPod cases in use are:

Handphone sleeves converted to iPod sleeves

This is the most common as handphone sleeves are cheap and easily available. However, the mirrored back of the 3G and 4G ipod are easily scratched by theses sleeves as they run against the iPod. It is not recommended unless you have a budget problem.

iPod screen and wheel sticky protectors

There are transparent iPod screen and wheel sticky protector that are cut of the right size and stucked directly onto the iPod screen and wheel. However, there are various models in the market and some of the cheaper ones tend to curl and peel off after some use. If you are on a budget, a good quality screen and wheel protector is the minimum you should have.

iPod silicone skin

This is the most common iPod case around. It looks like a good casing choice but it is in fact one of the worst, especially if you have bought a cheap one.

These cheap silicone cases are being mass-produced in China with doubtful materials and design elements. Many of the cheap silicone skins in the market tear easily and pick up lint and dirt easily. They are also difficult to wash and maintain. I will not advise a silicone case unless they are made by some of the better and branded products from USA or Japan. A good model is found at: http://www.smart-ipod-ideas.com

iPod Leather case

The iPod leather case is one of the most popular case. However, do not get the Apple branded one if possible as it tears to scratched the mirror back and it does not have a covering flap. Get one of the leather cases from the many in the market. Check the stitching on the leather case before buying one as some of the mass-manufactured ones may have poor workmanship.

Water and shock resistant cases

There is an increasing demand for such cases as more and more people bring their iPod for hiking, cycling, trekking, fishing and beach trips. There are various good brands in the market. However, note that whatever the advertisement may say, at best, the case can only be water resistant and not water proof which is two different things all together. A water resistant case can only take splashes and short immersion in water and certainly not something you can bring for swimming or diving trips!

Facts about Nokia 5800

It's all about Nokia 5800.

The Nokia 5800, code-named "Tube," is a Symbian S60 smartphone. It is an XpressMusic series phone, which emphasizes music and multimedia playback. While it has tactile feedback, it doesn't use Nokia's upcoming Haptikos technology[5].

It has a compatibility mode for Java applications that are not touchscreen-aware. It works by using part of the screen for displaying the essential buttons required by the program.

A prototype of this handset was seen in the 2008 Batman movie, The Dark Knight, Christina Aguilera's "Keeps Gettin' Better" as well as the #1 hit "Womanizer" by Britney Spears. The handset was also seen in Flo Rida's "Right Round", The Pussycat Dolls' "Jai Ho!" and Katy Perry's "Waking Up In Vegas" music videos. The phone has received generally positive reviews, with UK phone magazine Mobile Choice awarding it a full 5 stars in its Feb 8th issue.[6]

On January 23rd 2009, Nokia announced it had shipped the millionth 5800 XpressMusic device, even though it still had not been fully released worldwide.[7] In Nokia's Q1 report released on April 16th, 2009 it was announced they had shipped 2.6 million units during the quarter, with cumulative shipments of more than 3 million units since the smartphone's launch in late November 2008.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is not the first touchscreen device in Nokia's range. In 2004, the Nokia 7700 was announced, a Symbian Series 90 device that was cancelled before it reached the market. This was followed by the Nokia 7710 which was an upgraded version of the 7700, which became available during 2005. Nokia also produced the UIQ-based Nokia 6708 phone in 2005, but this was not an in-house development and was bought in from Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ.[9]. Nokia have also produced a range of Maemo-based Internet Tablets which have a touchscreen interface, however these are not mobile phones. The 5800 is, however, Nokia's first Symbian S60 touchscreen device.

The 5800 idle screen

The 2007 launch of the rival Apple iPhone demonstrated that at the time, Nokia did not only not have any current touchscreen mobile phones, but since the cancellation of the Symbian Series 90 operating system, it also lacked any sort of suitable platform for developing such a device. Although Nokia asserted with some justification that the Nokia N95 was a comparable or better device[10], most other manufacturers responded with their own touchscreen devices.

Talks about camera feature in a phone

Here is about handphone with camera.

The introduction of a camera feature in a cellular phone was one of the main achievements in the technical development of the communications sector. People find it more interesting and rewarding to buy camera phones than cells that don't include the device. In fact such non-camera designs are considered obsolete and unfashionable. Since most models now have the feature built-in, the quality difference between various brands and models comes from the technical performance of the camera and the rest of the phone characteristics. The price of the more extravagant designs reaches $1,000 but there are users ready to pay it.

The development extent of camera phones has reached the level where pictures can be shared as instant media services with anyone you want. However, although some companies focused on peer-to-peer video designs, the majority worked on instant picture sharing and photo shooting. If in the past camera phones needed more power consumption, things are pretty different at present when the phone battery suffers little modification by the use of the camera wireless infrastructure. Japan was the country to make the most serious of efforts for the development of the camera phones technologies.

Nokia became the largest camera phones seller in 2004, and the popularity of the products was so impressive that in 2006 few models still lacked the built-in camera function. Among the companies that produce camera phones there are Sony, Siemens, Samsung, Motorola, Toshiba, Sanyo and LG Electronics. The impact of camera phones on the group subconscious and personal social interaction level cannot be denied. On the contrary, the possibility to capture events as they happen is considered a great gift. Then, the mobile features also allow for their immediate transmission, which makes the devices even more rewarding to use.

One of the controversies triggered by camera phones is illegal photo shooting. While pretending to simply check the phone menu, one can easily take pictures against a person's wishes. Lots of scandals happened because of celebrity photos captured with camera phones that were afterwards made public in tabloids. Voyeurism, the infringement of the copyright regulations, or privacy invasion are all serious crimes, punishable by law.

The new Samsung handsets

Bigfoot and Spica are the new Samsung handsets.

Photos of two new Samsung handsets running on the Google's OS leaked online today, along with most of their specs sheets.

Samsung Samsung

The two new Samsung handsets are codenamed Bigfoot and Spica will be running the v2.0 Donut of the Android OS. Yeap, you got that right - Android v1.5 isn't yet completely distributed to the market and v2.0 is already about to appear. According to the source the upgrade to v2.0 won't be available to every handset out there with the decision left for the carriers to make.

Samsung Bigfoot and Samsung Spica will both sport quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G connectivity. The 1700 Mhz HSDPA band on the Bigfoot hints of the fact that it will be available on T-Mobile in the USA. The two devices are basically trimmed-down version of the Samsung I7500, coming with 3" WQVGA TFT displays and 3MP autofocus cameras.

The Bigfoot and the Spica will also sport Wi-Fi, GPS, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, leaving nothing more to be demanded in this area. Built-in accelerometers and digital compasses complete the list of known specs for both devices.

The Samsung Bigfoot and Samsung Spica should become available in Q3 of this year but their retail price remains to be seen.

Advantages of Voice Inbox

Here's about Voice Inbox.

How does Voice Inbox work?
When someone calls, the application answers the call with a pre-recorded greeting and records the voice message left by the caller.
When new messages have been received, Voice Inbox puts a notice on the phone’s display and the yellow Voice Inbox desktop indicator changes its color to red. You can then play /delete the received voice message and you can also see message details: when the message was recorded and who the caller was as well as make a one-click call-back.

Advantages:

  • Local log of messages received - received messages are stored on your own device and you can easily (re)play or delete them at any time and place.
  • Visual indicator on the stand-by status bar of the phone, showing activity and new message alerts.
  • Custom voice greeting that can easily be modified.
  • Audio-routing selection - you can choose whether to play your messages/greetings on the loudspeaker or through the earpiece.
  • Call-back option - you can easily call back the person who has left you a message from the received messages log.
  • Flexibility - you can change greetings very easily and you can also set greeting timeout and length at your own preference.
  • Contact name mapping in the voice mail log for recognized contacts from phonebook
  • User-friendly interface - the application is manageable with just a few clicks.

The latest iteration of HTC's TouchFLO 3D

It's about the Touch Diamond2,HTC.

Despite being crammed full of features, smartphones are often lacking when it comes to having intuitive software.

Taiwanese handphone maker HTC knows a thing or two about this, having developed its own touch-based user interface in a bid to improve usability.

The Touch Diamond2 sports the latest iteration of HTC’s TouchFLO 3D interface and a more streamlined version of the hardware.

The first Diamond was fetching, with a piano-black aesthetic and a back that sported angular contours. Over time though, its pleasing design proved to be a burden, as the phone got easily smudged and suffered scratches on its uneven back.

The Diamond2 sports a classy hint of brushed metal on its face, a glossy screen, and a smooth, flat back. It’s thinner than before, but features a 3.2-inch touchscreen with wide VGA resolution. The increase in screen real-estate is very welcome - its predecessor’s 2.8-inch display was a tad small for some fingers.

A camera on its front enables you to make video calls, while a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus (lacking flash) on its flipside is more suited for capturing pictures and movies. The Windows Mobile 6.1 device runs on a 528MHz processor. The Diamond2 will be upgradeable to the upcoming version 6.5 of the operating system - which provides a more touch-friendly interface, among other new features - according to HTC.

Note, however, that the Diamond2 only has a microSD slot; the original’s 4GB internal storage has disappeared. There’s no dedicated 3.5mm audio port either, you still have to use an adapter to use your own earphones.

Despite running on top of a mobile operating system, the TouchFLO 3D interface is very responsive. The slick, animated 3D interface allows you to scroll through contacts, pictures and music files with simple hand gestures.

The new zoom bar works well, too, with a caveat. You can’t specify the exact spot you want to zoom into, unlike the now-famous pinch-zoom finger gesture.

Websites load fast, rendering image- and text-laden ones in over 10 seconds on average based on 7.2Mbps download speeds on a 3.5G cellular network or on WiFi. The phone also has a web-browsing feature called Push Internet, which allows you to preload websites you visit often.

HTC has tweaked its address book application, displaying a contact’s details, as well as relevant emails, text messages and history of calls in the same window. It’s a nice touch, and one I haven’t seen in other smartphones (though the upcoming Palm Pre with its Synergy feature might change that). The Touch Diamond2 is a powerful and handsome smartphone.

The form of the body visible on the curve when the body has opened a bid tergeser Sony Ericsson. Encourage the body to the right on this show the existence of the Qwerty keyboard.

Keyboard consists of 4 lines. The distance between the keys is quite thin so it will not be guaranteed one click. Key figures overlapping with the particular letter, among others, 1-2-3 in the UIO, JKL in 4-5-6, 7-8-9 in the M-: - ', and *- 0 - # in ,-.-? . To phone, we can simply press the button-number; do not need to click the button to change the function first.

Signal only to find Windows key on the key first line of the first button and OK button on the last four lines. No special keyboard shortcuts shown in the row keyboard; 2 so that the menu button is usually found squeezed between the keyboard and the screen body. O yes, the OK button we can find other in the bottom of the screen, the right side.

Other innovations offered by Sony Ericsson is the panel, namely the theme is the application menu. Access the settings panel is very easy, because the Sony Ericsson Panel put the X button in the bottom of the screen, the left side. We live percussion and the desired panel, and the panel will be activated immediately.

Touch screen of course prone to accidentally click the screen. It is anticipated that with the key lock together with the End call button. Live click-hold the button End call to Unlock any posts appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. Stylus its own can be found on the body, left elbow.

Connectivity, Capacity, Performance
Mini USB port on the left body is used only for charger and data cable. Signal had a confused look for a MicroSD slot that is on the left body. This is not directly visible because the slot behind closed casing made of metal. To open the casing, cut only a small hole in the left-right body, the bottom. Sony Ericsson to include artificial Sandisk MicroSDHC 4GB in the package.

Processor and memory combination is selected Sony Ericsson is, to some extent match the needs of the operating system used. At least, we see movement on the X graphical panel with flow clear.

Entertainment
Sony Ericsson 3.2 MP camera install, plus lighting. Signal does not find the Camera icon in the menu anywhere, presumably this application can only be opened with the push-hold the camera key. Button on the right body, the bottom. Picture size images that can dijepret X1 is of course a maximum of 3MP. While the Video maximum size for the video recording is VGA.

Additional speakers nearly invisible, the body on the left, next to bottom. The volume key on the right body, the top. Interestingly, the Sony Ericsson 3.5 mm jack for headset; located on the body.

Note, Google and FM Radio is no longer visible in the icon to its normal Programs menu and Settings. Both these applications can only be accessed from the X Panel. Tha Korean Thriller Handphone

This is the Korean thriller handphone.

The Korean thriller Handphone tries to tackle the same territory as it’s hollywood and HK counterparts Cellular and Connected.
The problem is that the film isn’t quite focued on what it wants to be, a traditional thriller like the other two films, a social satire about the media and our dependency on technology, or an existential thriller about two men on a collision course.
In the end the existential thriller in it wins, but it’s no Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance or Old Boy.
That’s a shame, because it has some great performances (especially by Uhm Tae Woong who is one of my favorite Korean younger generation star) and fairly decent pacing.
Worth checking out for fans of the star of for die hard fans of dark Korean thrillers, not the best example of the genre though.
